ELGA P 48P are basic coated electrodes with low carbon manganese, specially designed for welding pipes. The electrodes weld excellently with AC (alternating) and DC (direct) currents in all positions. ELGA P 48P features remarkably stable arc, thereby easily allowing welding in various and difficult-to-access welding locations, without the risk of arc blow. The root weld bead is evenly smooth and slightly convex, thus beautifully merging with the base material. The welding characteristics are not sensitive to root gap or edge misalignments. With ELGA P 48P, the fill and cap are level with the bead edges, thereby reducing the risk of edge defects when welding in a straight or wavy manner. Due to the flat or slightly convex weld bead, there is no need for extensive post-weld grinding, thus significantly reducing dust and noise in the working environment.
