This charger is the first on the market battery charger made with PWM technology and featuring a microprocessor control system capable of charging 12 and 24 V batteries. Charging with SMART or FAST mode does not require your attention because all the programs controlling the charging process were meticulously designed considering the specific types of batteries and their nominal voltage to ensure they are precisely charged. The 12V / 24V automatic detection system does not require the user to set the corresponding value on the control panel.
PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) is a current or voltage signal control method that maintains a constant amplitude and frequency, consisting of changing the duty cycle of the signal. The PWM system powers the device directly or through a low-frequency filter, smoothing out changes in electrical current and voltage.
The display of charging parameters allows for additional verification of the battery's condition. A large screen informs about the current current, the charging mode, and the current voltage of the battery. Additionally, you can monitor the charging status in percentages.
Advantages:
- Constant Voltage: use a constant current voltage to charge the battery, ensure that the charging current is not too high by reducing it during the process.
- Constant Current: means that the battery voltage is lower than the set charger voltage, but the charger will maintain a constant current to charge the battery.
- Trickle Charge Modulation: when the battery voltage approaches the nominal voltage and the charging current is already low for the set current, it switches to variable charging modulation (floating charge modulation). This means that the battery is charged, but constantly checked for voltage drops and automatically recharged using variable current.
- Floating Charge Modulation: This mode allows maintaining full battery charge.
8 stages of charging:
- 1 stage - diagnosis. Diagnosis of the battery, its charging status, and the correctness of the connections between the battery and the charger.
- 2 stage - desulfation. The sulfated battery is revived. Low voltage and high current impulse charging help remove sulfate from the battery, thus restoring its original capacity.
- 3 stage - analysis. Checking if the battery is damaged and if it can accept the charging current - preventing the charging of a damaged battery.
- 4 stage - soft start. If the battery is not damaged, it begins to charge at a relatively low current (about 15%), gradually increasing its value.
- 5 stage - main charging. Charging with maximum constant intensity current, automatically adjusted based on the battery's charge status until 80% of the battery's capacity is reached.
- 6 stage - final charging. Charging with decreasing current and constant voltage until 100% of the battery capacity is reached.
- 7 stage - analysis. A 2-minute battery test - if the battery's charge level does not decrease after stopping charging, the charging process is considered complete.
- 8 stage - pulse. Monitoring the battery voltage and maintaining optimal charging by using charging current pulses to keep 95–100% of the capacity.
Safety features:
- Overvoltage protection - activated when a charging voltage that is not set is detected.
- Battery diagnostics function - the charger constantly monitors the battery's condition.
- Overheat protection: when the charger's temperature exceeds 150°C, the charger stops charging. Once the temperature drops to 80°C or the charger has been turned off for about 10 minutes, the battery can be recharged after this time.
- Short circuit protection: it automatically activates when a short circuit occurs in the circuit. A long beep will sound.
- Reverse polarity protection: if the clamps (+/-) are connected in reverse by mistake, the charger will warn you with intermittent long beeps. Proper connection of the clamps begins charging.
