The OK Autrod 5183 wire has a relatively high strength limit and is intended for welding AA 5083 type or similar high-manganese content alloys. Most often, the OK Autrod 5356 wire cannot withstand the loads that OK Autrod 5083 can. The alloy is most commonly used in shipbuilding and civil engineering, where high strength, resistance to cracking, impact toughness, and corrosion environment are required. The alloy is not recommended for use at elevated temperatures, as it becomes sensitive to stress-corrosion cracking. The alloy cannot be thermally treated.
